Datong Guiyi Carbon Co., Ltd. is located in the Pharmaceutical Industry Park (Plot 02), Datong Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shanxi, China — a large coal deep-processing enterprise integrating activated carbon R&D, production, sales and application support. The company employs 150 people, including over 60 technical specialists, with RMB 260 million in total fixed assets and 53,200 m² of operating area, producing 12,000 tonnes of high-grade briquetted activated carbon per year.
Through independent R&D and the adoption of advanced technologies, processes and equipment from home and abroad, the company now operates two imported and two domestic briquetting lines, two high-efficiency energy-saving carbonization furnaces, two refining lines, six Slep activation furnaces, and a 600 m² laboratory and R&D centre. It has developed more than 100 stable, high-quality activated carbon grades across six major categories, trusted and favoured by customers.
Our products are widely used for drinking water, industrial water and wastewater treatment by large, medium and small city water utilities and waterworks, large and medium-sized power generators, and companies in the petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, environmental protection, pharmaceutical, paper-making, printing and dyeing, beverage, wine, sugar and monosodium glutamate industries.

Application Technology as Our Core Competence
Activated carbon application technology is our core competence: matching different carbon grades to different water quality requirements and delivering more effective complete solutions to China's drinking water market. We carry out joint research and technology application projects with Tongji University, Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology, and maintain long-term technical exchange with the Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design Institute and the China Coal Research Institute, giving us a leading position in water treatment technology. We have long held more than 70% of China's market for water-plant purification activated carbon, and aim to become a leader in the water and environmental protection sector.
Our briquetted activated carbon is made from Shanxi Datong weakly caking coal, whose favourable chemical properties make it the only feedstock that can be converted directly into high-quality activated carbon without special processing. The scarcest of all is Datong's unique low-ash, low-sulphur Jurassic coal, found mainly in seams No. 8 and No. 11 in Zuoyun County and nearby. It offers low ash, low sulphur, good washability and high chemical reactivity — around 5% ash and less than 0.7% sulphur — and is known as natural clean coal.
